Jane Goodall Workshop Day 4

Graduation Day! Participants completed evaluations and officials made their speeches. We felt strong and empowered as a group. These Kasese District teachers are so very grateful for the funds and educational support that comes to them from Canada. Each person promises to take environmental action with their students.

This note was quietly delivered to me as we all said goodbye.

Here is dear Teddy.

Teachers were honoured, proud, and accomplished.

Annah and Grace took me to the dress shop in the market, hidden behind the main streets of Kasese. I'd walked around it for days and never would have found this bustling maze of goods without my local friends.

These printed fabrics are originals from Congo, just west of Uganda. The women negotiated a deal of 18,000 USh ($7) for the fabric and 10,000 USh ($4) for the tailoring.

You'll have to wait until school photo day for the fashion show!

Annah, Felitzia, Grace, and I quenched our thirst and enjoyed the hot afternoon together. They played with iPad and figured out that email from Uganda to Canada is a better deal than telephone. They hope to get an account soon.

With love from Jen
