Bwera Workshop Social

It's interesting that whereas Canadian teachers pay for their professional development, Ugandan teachers expect to be paid to learn. Our wind-up social at the Hippo Resort, however, was a dream come true for these guys. They looked great and sang to popular radio tunes with laughter and fun on the way out.

These are fishing boats just outside the resort.

Everyone wanted a photo opportunity. Timony is special to me because he is the agriculture teacher - he really knows about the issues around conservation, and he speaks powerfully well. He also has a brilliant smile, an expressive face, and a very caring nature.

Boats move by pushing the stick.

A quick sunset glimpse

The teachers are Josiah, Landus, Jophez, Robert (head teacher), Wilson, Yowel, Lazarus (you remember from fishing at the Congo border), Sabiti, Timony, Gideon (deputy head teacher), and the ever-funny Goffrey. They are an excellent team of teachers.

I would have taken more photos at the social, but we were indulging and playing volleyball. Good times were had by all!
with love, from Jen
